![Well well well, it has been a long time since time was taken to update this website.... probably because nothing really seemed very interesting after returning to the states after an adventure like South East Asia. Or maybe I just forgot about the website in the hustle and bustle of my return, my job search, finding a job, working in a cubicle for two and a half years (fortunately the people that I had the pleasure of working with at Minco made this as enjoyable experience as working in an office can probably be... this is a compliment), undertaking WAY too many new projects including a complete renovation of a duplex in Nordeast Minneapolis, etc. etc. etc.
Now, I have sold or donated most of my projects and possessions, resigned my position at Minco, rented out 649 Fillmore, and am fitting my life into a backpack and a duffel bag. The adventure: 6 months or more on a 62’ Nordhavn Trawler cruising down the Bahamas & Caribbean and eventually back up Central America.
Before getting too far ahead of myself, let me post a chronological sequence of what has happened since the last posting:
August 2007 - Returned to the US and was promptly reintroduced to American civilization by spending the evening at a very local bar. It was overwhelming, to say the least, to see so many old faces in one place so quickly after landing.
December 2007 - Was hired on as an [International] Inside Sales Engineer at Minco Products in Fridley, MN. This job more or less is a liaison between our customers and Business Partners in Europe and everyone at the US facility. This was a great experience and I learned a TON about business, working with other people, and myself!
May 2008 - Purchased a duplex on Fillmore St. NE, Minneapolis, MN. Originally I wanted to use it as-is, but I was swayed to doing a COMPLETE renovation of the upper unit. Several dollars and two years and a LOT of help from friends and family and it is finally almost done (note: ‘almost’).
September 2008 - Traveled to Austria to visit Can und meine Oma for a few weeks.
November 2008 - Road trip to Vail to visit Chris.
August 2009 - Boundary Waters Canoe Area trip with Chris, Dan and Cole
4th of July Weekend 2010 - Awesome trip to Apostle Islands / Madeline Island.
6-July-2010 - I get an email from a gentleman and his fiancee stating that they just purchased a 62’ Trawler and it is a little too much boat for two people to maintain and that if the right person came along they would love to have said person aboard to lend a hand. Three days later I am standing on ‘Pendana’ in a harbor in West Palm Beach, FL getting acquainted with Chris and Sarah and learning a bit about the boat, their expectations, and sharing as much about myself as possible to ensure we were a good fit.... well, we are and I was asked to join in their journey around the Caribbean Sea. THAT is why this website is once again being updated.
