Nick’s Hong Kong Adventure

I will write just a quick bit here since I have forgotten the majority of it. I don’t think that too much really happened besides settling into my Hong Kong groove and my mom visiting with her friends. Just kept plugging away at school, planning the Thailand/Cambodia trip, and going out a few times of course.

The highlight was surely when my mother and two of her friends, Mary and Jill, visited from 13 to 22 March and I played tour guide.

I kicked it off by surprising them at their hotel when they arrived... in retrospect I should have taken a picture because the look on their faces was priceless! Hugs all around and a little bit of catching up, I ended up crashing at the hotel so they wouldn’t have to wait for me to get there the next day (to play tour guide).

The next few days were a grand tour of Hong Kong consisting of, but not limited to, proper MTR usage & getting around HK, shopping (of course), getting suits, dresses, eyeglasses, etc. made, Aberdeen (Jumbo), a trip to the New Territories (on which I did not go... it was the morning after St. Patrick’s Day), a day/night on Cheung Chau and ‘The Sea Ranch’ (island resort at which we were graciously allowed to stay), the Peak, random wanderings within the city.

As crazy as they are, these gals knew how to have a good time. They painted Hong Kong red and I know they had fun, as did I. After they had their fun I sent them off on their 16-18 hour plane ride back to Minnesota and tried my best to switch back into ‘student’ versus ‘tour guide’ mode.
